The Roommate was such a fun book and a bit of a twist on classic rom-coms.
Clara is a shy girl from upper-class New York. Her family has all sorts of expectations for her but she feels trapped in the life she is currently living and decides to take a major step into the life she wants. And she wants her best friend – really bad.
She decides to move to LA and share an apartment with Everett Bloom her absolute crush, only to find out that Everett is going on the road with his band and Clara will be sharing with a new guy he found on the internet, the super nice Josh.
At first, she feels like a failure. But she really wants to avoid the scandal (something her family is well known for) of running back home so soon and decides to stick it out.
She forms an easy flirty friendship with Josh, and then she finds out what he does for a living. Josh is a porn star, one that is famous with women for having a different approach in the industry.

However, the studios aren’t that happy with him. He has a cult following, but they want to force him out of his comfort zone and he’s not ok with that.
Joining forces with scandal-shy Clara they put their minds together to create something unique that can revolutionize the sex industry in the best possible way. But of course, with such a taboo topic to be working on, will Clara be able to face her fears and put herself out there?
This was such a different rom-com and I loved how it was written in such a funny and charming way. But, although I liked the story as a whole I felt like Josh and Clara’s connection could have been stronger. Maybe because of the sexy tone I was never convinced of their love for each other. I still liked their relationship, but it also didn’t give me the warm fluffy feeling I expect from a rom-com.

Clara’s relationship with her family was also a bit underdeveloped. But although some parts were a bit lacking, the overall experience of the Roommate was great and I look forward to reading more from Rosie Danan in the future.
